The Lace Museum follows current applicable Covid-19 guidelines for the health and safety of our students, teachers and volunteers.
Unless noted, in-person education takes place at The Lace Museum. Please refer to our Plan a Visit page for address and directions.
Workshop Registration: Click the specific workshop’s registration link below to register via Google forms. When you finish the form, you will be presented with a link to go to Shopify to purchase the workshop. If the workshop is sold out when you try to check out, your registration with the form has automatically entered you on the waiting list.

Workshops

Milanese at the Museum
Instructor: Louise Colgan
Course Description: Something for everyone! This popular workshop offers instruction for lacemakers new to Milanese, as well as those wishing to gain more experience. Students will be able to explore a new project or continue with a piece-in-progress. A variety of patterns are available, providing plenty of options for all levels.
Level: Beginning, Intermediate or Advanced
Dates: Saturday, Oct 7; Sunday, Oct, 8; and Monday, Oct 9, 2023
Time: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm
Registration Fee:
$165 For 3 full days (Saturday through Monday)
$120 For 2 full days (Saturday + Sunday OR Monday)
$ 75 For 1 day (Sunday OR Monday ~ IF space is available)
You will be invoiced after you complete the registration process.

Classes
All of our classes are by appointment only. PRE-REGISTRATION is required. Our teachers are volunteers and their classes are flexible. To register, please email the museum at lacemuseum@gmail.com to arrange the class.
Students are responsible for finishing their projects when taking lessons. We advise you to allow time for homework.

Bobbin Lace
Wednesdays, 11:00am to 1:00pm, or Thursdays, 7:00pm to 9:00:pm
Beginner: 6 sessions – $120
Intermediate:1 session – $20

Beginner to Intermediate level and a very personal, easy class. Eleanore is a very experienced lace maker and can teach all types of bobbin lace. Tools may be purchased at registration or earlier, if desired. Beginning students should enroll in a 6-week course and attend all 6 classes as well as work on projects at home. Continuing students may attend as desired.

Tatting
Wednesdays, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm; or Thursdays, 7:00 pm to 9:00: pm
6 sessions – $120
Taught by Eleanore Schwartz
This class begins with a larger thread and shuttle to teach you the basic movements. Ele will then guide you through a set of patterns chosen to teach you all of tatting’s basic skills.

Beginner Crochet

This class is tailored to the needs of each student. If you do know know how to crochet, we will start at the beginning and teach you how to make a single crochet, double crochet and slip stitch with yarn and a larger hook. Once the basics are mastered, you can move on to increasingly finer yarns and threads to make crocheted lace. If you already have some skills, we will determine where the best place for you to begin will be through conversation and viewing samples of your prior work.

Lacy Knitting
Wednesday or Thursday, call to arrange time
3 two-hour sessions – $60
Taught by Eleanore Schwartz
This class is tailored to the needs of each student. If you do not know how to knit, we will start at the beginning and teach you how to hold the yarn, use the needles, and how to make stitches. Once the basics are mastered, you can move on to increasingly finer yarns and threads to make knitted lace.
