SPOTLIGHT: The Westhope Group “Let the River Flow By” Exhibit

Members of The Westhope Group come from all over the UK. Although their backgrounds in lace are equally varied, they have a common interest in maintaining strong lace traditions, pushing the boundaries of lace techniques and sharing experience with students, lacemakers and all who have an enthusiasm for textiles.

Below are images from The Westhope Group’s ninth exhibition first presented at Highcliffe Castle, Dorset, UK, in October 2019. The work, developed from the theme ‘Let the River Flow By’, is grounded in centuries old techniques, but challenges the traditional view of lacemaking. Rivers from all over the country, and the life and activities that go on around them, have provided inspiration for our exhibition.
