New Virtual Workshops – Some For the First Time!
We are happy to announce that we have 11 virtual workshops scheduled for September, October and November. Some are short one session projects. Others meet a few times for more in-depth learning and projects. A few of our brand new workshops are Ipswich Lace, Beds Lace for Beginners and Continuing, and Lucet. Find all the details on our Workshops page.
Please note that we are changing our registration process slightly. The “Register” links for each workshop take you to a signup form so we can gather the right information for our virtual presentations. After you fill out the form, you can click a link on the confirmation page and purchase the workshop and any accompanying kit.
More Virtual Workshops
Our virtual workshops have been an enormous success. We are pleased to present several more virtual workshops in parallel with the IOLI UnCon Convention the week of July 20: Turkish Needle Lace and Continuing Turkish Needle Lace, Modern Grounds, Beginning and Continuing Tatting. Also in August and September we will present Clones Lace: an Irish Crochet for beginners and a Clones Lace for “improvers” who have mastered the basic skills from the beginners workshop and wish to increase their repertoire. Please check out our Workshops web page for more info and links to Shopify to register and buy kits.
New Virtual Workshops Announced
We are pleased to announce two new online workshops.
Bobbin Lace Design (the Binche Algorithm) is a lecture and hands-on learning experience on interpreting irregular lace shapes without having to draw and follow a thread diagram. The instructor is Pierre Fouché.
We will also be offering Ipswich Bobbin Lace with instructor Karen Thompson and Irish Crochet – Motifs with Máire Treanor.
Please visit the Workshops page for more information.
Opportunity for Irish Crochet Workshop with International Expert
We are pleased to be working with Máire Treanor to present new online workshops for Irish Crochet. Please share your interest and level (beginner, improver, advanced) by email to lacemuseum@gmail.com or via Facebook message. This will help us structure the sessions appropriately.
Máire Treanor lives in Clones, Ireland and has been researching and designing Clones Irish Crochet Lace since the late 1980s. Her book ‘Clones Lace: The Story and Patterns of an Irish Crochet’ was first published in 2002, republished by Lacis in Berkeley, CA in 2010. She has been travelling to the States since 1999, and is a regular tutor with Lacis. She is part of a local group of volunteers who have been organizing the International Clones Lace Summer School since 1990. The 30th International Summer School is scheduled for June 2021, due to travel restrictions. Máire is also a regular contributor to Piecework magazine.
More Online Workshops Scheduled
Our first online workshop was a great success! We have now scheduled two more: Tatting and an additional session of Turkish Needle Lace (Igne Oya).
Please visit our Workshops page for more details and to register.
In Person Workshops Change to Online
In person workshops in the spring and summer of 2020 have been cancelled and will be re-scheduled as soon as possible.
During this difficult period, we are fortunate that all workshop teachers for this period have agreed to online components. The first up will be Turkish Needle Lace (Igne Oya). Please visit our Workshops page for more details.
